New study finds increase in border wall injuries and deaths

Trauma surgeons in San Diego are finding that the number of immigrants attempting to climb the border wall from Mexico into California has increased, and so have injuries and deaths from falling. The surge has put massive pressure on the area’s already stressed trauma units, and doctors say it is an “unseen medical crisis,” as the number of immigrants scaling the border wall is on the rise. Host Marco Werman speaks to Dr. Amy Liepert, medical director of acute care surgery at UC San Diego Health.
