US human trafficking report elicits anger

The Biden administration’s first report on human trafficking is angering governments around the globe. Thailand is resentful for being downgraded and placed on a watchlist for catching and charging fewer suspects. The report has also raised ire by, for the first time, placing a NATO member — Turkey — on the congressionally mandated list of countries that use child soldiers. Turkey is expressing outrage. And, as The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports, Cuba is angry that the Biden administration is using what might be the strongest language ever to call that country’s medical missions human trafficking.
