Rep. Wasserman Schultz on Mark Kelly’s Space Trip, Gabrielle Giffords

The Takeaway

The Space Shuttle Endeavor is schedule to launch at 3:47 PM on today. Big crowds are expected at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida –  because this is not any ordinary launch. The 14-day mission will be the Endeavor’s 25th and FINAL voyage and it is the second to last space shuttle launch in the  foreseeable  future. The program will be ending in June. To top it all off, astronaut Mark Kelly is the commander of the mission. Kelly is husband to Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford and had been on leave to take care of her since the Arizona shooting back in January. Standing by Gifford on the launchpad will be close friend and ally  Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla), who joins us to talk about Gifford’s progress, Kelly’s business trip and the future of her the NASA program
